First, we will talk
about story of The Catcher in the Rye. In chapter 5, Holden went to
Agerstown with Mal Brossard and Ackley by bus because they planned to
watch movie, but they didn’t so they just ate hamburgers. After
they ate hamburgers and went to back to the dormitory. He wrote an
essay that Stradlater asked to him. Stradlater wants to describe room
or house on essay, but he wrote about Allie’s glove, which Allie
wrote poems on before he died. Allie, Holden's younger brother, died
1946, because of leukemia. So Holden crushed the glass in the garage
with his right hand, since he got sense of loss and was in pain
because of his brother’s death and is why he sometimes can’t move
his right hand well.
In chapter 6,
Stradlater was angry because Holden wrote an essay about Allie’s
glove not about describe room or house, so Holden tore essay to
pieces that he wrote about Allie’s glove. Holden got angry so he
smoked, because Stradlater doesn’t like smoke in the room because
he hates broke rules. Finally, Holden attacked by Stradlater.
Next, we will talk
about main character Holden’s personality. Holden family is wealthy
family in New York, but he always looks the world in negative way,
and talks like self-righteous and fidget. However, he has hidden
painful fact about his dead younger brother Allie.
Finally, we will
make some quizzes. For homework, commentators do the following:

ReplyDelete1. Holden already knows that Stradlater’s behavior is bad, so Holden curious about their date, but Stradlater doesn’t talk about it. Then, Holden thinks that Stradlater does a bad action with conviction. We think that because Holden expresses his anger, Holden tries to punch Stradlater.
